The Petroleum Technology Development Fund is a scholarship program for Nigerian students that comes highly recommended. Nigerian undergraduates, masters, and PhD students who meet all of the eligibility requirements can apply for the “PTDF Scholarship Scheme” offered by the federal ministry of petroleum resources. THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME FOR PETROLEUM TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT (PTDF) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

1. MSc Applicants

  1. Applicants must have a minimum of a Second Class Upper (2.1) or a Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience in their first degree.
  2. Applicants must have fulfilled the National Youth Service requirement (NYSC)
  3. Applicants must have basic computer skills.
  4. Applicants must have a total of 5 O/level credits, including English and Mathematics.
  5. Applicants must provide a Statement of Purpose (maximum 500 words) outlining the reason(s) for the planned study, its industrial relevance, and predicted influence on national development.
  6. Before applying for the scholarship, applicants must have a National Identity Number (NIN). Applicants should be aware that they will need to validate their NIN before continuing with the application (NIMC verification charges apply).

2. PhD Applicants

  1. Applicants must have completed the national youth service requirement (NYSC)
  2. Applicants must have basic computer skills.
  3. Applicants must have a first-degree grade of Second Class Lower (2.2) and a satisfactory second-degree certificate.
  4. Applicants must submit a five-page research proposal related to the oil and gas industry, which must include: Topic, introduction, goal, approach, and data collecting mode.
  5. All lecturers must present a letter from their Vice Chancellor verifying that they are not receiving any other awards.
  6. Applicants must have a National Identity Number before applying for the scholarship (NIN). Applicants should be aware that they will need to authenticate their NIN before progressing with the application (NIMC verification charges apply).

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE PTDF SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants are encouraged to scan and upload copies of the following documents to their online application forms:

  1. Certificate of First Degree or Statement of Results.
  2. NYSC certificate of completion.
  3. WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO results, as well as the PINs on the application forms, allowing PTDF to check O’level results on the appropriate website.
  4. Photographs from a Recent Passport.
  5. Identification Letter from the Local Government.
  6. Certificate of Master’s Degree (PhD Applicants only).
  7. Proof of professional association membership.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  1. Candidates who pass the first round of screening will be asked to submit their transcripts; all applicants should prepare their transcripts in advance of such a request.
  2. Applicants that submit multiple applications will be disqualified.
